Ameepurva Thaker
Greetings, my name is Ameepurva, and I am a qualified and registered Psychotherapeutic Transactional Analysis Psychotherapist. As a neurodivergent individual, I offer a unique and culturally sensitive approach to therapy that is affirming of neurodiversity.
I have a deep appreciation for exploring different cultures and understanding how they influence our perceptions and connections across generations. I am dedicated to supporting neurodivergent adults in finding better mental health and well-being, and I strive to create a welcoming space where everyone feels heard and valued.
I am captivated by the intricacies of the human mind and the rich variety of emotions and thoughts we all experience. My mission is to gently explore what makes us who we are and to help my clients navigate their inner worlds with empathy and understanding.
No matter the reason that has led you to seek therapy, I provide a safe and confidential environment where you can freely express and work through your emotions without fear of judgment. Whether you require short-term or long-term therapy, we will determine your specific needs during our initial session. Together, we can establish goals and create a plan to achieve the desired results and provide you with the necessary support.
With over 7 years of experience in the field of mental health and domestic abuse, I have worked in various settings, including NHS IAPT services, grief counselling, addiction counselling, pre and postnatal support, and mental health settings. Through continuous professional development and considering my clients' individual needs and beliefs, I ensure that my therapeutic approach is mindful of your cultural background and traditions.
I have dealt with a wide range of complex issues, both in individual and group settings, in private practice as well as within charitable organisations. This has equipped me with the knowledge, understanding, and skills to effectively engage with individuals from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. It has also heightened my awareness of the factors that can influence a person's experience of mental health problems.
When appropriate, I utilise my language skills and mother tongue to better support clients, fostering a fluid connection between us. My relational orientation in therapy is particularly interested in addressing cultural and intergenerational trauma, with a focus on creating a neuroaffirming space for clients. I am deeply intrigued by the interaction between culture and the therapeutic experience.
In my practice, I adhere to the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy established by the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am fully insured and receive regular clinical supervision from highly experienced and respected Clinical Supervisors.
I provide both short-term and long-term therapy sessions, which can be conducted via Zoom or telephone, depending on your preference and convenience.
